I purchased a 2nd remote to control my macbook pro but even though I paired it to my macbook pro with the Apple TV off but now both remotes control the Apple TV and only the remote I want controls the macbook pro. Anyway to unpair the 2nd remote from Apple TV? I tried going into settings to unpair and holding down left+menu but no dice. Any help on this would be great since now I have to have have the Apple TV turned off.
Pairing only works on the receiving device.
Each remote sends a cod to identify itsefl - by default Macs or AppleTVs respond to any coded device.
Now you have paired with the MBP it will only respond to that remote, but you will need to pair the other remote with AppleTV.
That's the problem, I paired the remote with my MacBook but it still controls both the MacBook and Apple TV.
You have to pair the other remote with AppleTV to make it ignore the MacBook remote - they respond to any remote, unless paired in which case they ignore remotes that send different ID codes.
