Can I add emoticons to iMessage?

The Enjoli emoticons are different on my iPad and iPhone from iMessage on my computer. Under the bell choices, all the alcoholic icons are missing. Can I replace the app? I purchased an app for $6.99 but it will be cumbersome to use. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Two ways.

The first is the same way as this web site:-

Type a common text keystroke combo for a "Smiley" and it will select them.

The second is to use the Drop down indicated by the greyed out Smiley in the right hand of th Text field (In Left to Right languages)

The grey icon across the bottom indicate other panes of icons that can be used.

Around this part of the Objects pane there are some Emoji items that don't show compared with the Character Pallet version

This is missing a knife, bomb, cigarette, gun and a syringe that I remember.

I should have been more clear with my question. I know how to use the emoticons that are available, I would like to know if I can add emoticons that are like the ones on my iPhone to iMessage on my computer. In the bell section, the alcoholic beverages are missing.

Thanks for your help! My British daughter-in-law who lives in Germany, often adds the beer mug to her messages and I would like to as well. I can if using my phone, but not if I am using my computer. 😕

Hi,

If the bottom here is ticked...

This is System Preferences > Keyboard and th Keyboard tab as I mentioned earlier.

Then this Menu will offer those Choices..

The Character Viewer Palette can then be set to Emoji and it shows the full range.

Slightly higher up the Objects icons is the "missing" Gun and other items that don't show in Messages.
