iMovie 10 failed to update properly. I uninstalled via the Trash but App store says it is still installed?

iMovie 10 failed to update properly. I uninstalled via the Trash but App store says it is still installed so I can't reinstall it.

Doesn't appear in the Purchased tab on the App Store

I have Checked the Applications folder and it has gone from there. Restarted and gone back to the App Store - still says installed.

Stuck!

Did you empty the trash? I think it will still find it there...?

Yes, certainly I did do that. I also used 3rd party uninstalled to clear residual files. Still said installed. Problem is now resolved though. As my Mac still thought it had iMovie 10 installed, when the next update arrived a few days later it installed itself again. Not a reliable way to resolve the problem though!
