Q: How do I connect to xserve A1246

Hope you can help. I'm trying to recover files from a server. It's an Xserve A1246. I know nothing about this product and it's to be sold at auction, but I need to recover very valuable sound and audio files first.

What kit, cables etc. do I need to connect, find my files and recover them? My guess is that there will be about 150GB of files. Do I just need a friend with an Apple laptop and a suitable data storage device?

I've never used MAC kit before so please assume I know nothing!

Many thanks

Probably the simplest thing to do is log into the server with admin account

Connect a external drive to the xserve and copy whatever you want to the external drive

The drive would need to formatted either mac or fat32

To use NTFS formatted drives you'd have to install 3rd part software on the xserve
