Just bought Apple TV, connected to Internet via wireless router and everything looks fine. Also have a mini-ipad about 8 months old. Also connected to internet via wireless router and works fine. Apple TV is set up with Airplay enabled. Cant fine the Airplay icon on my mini ipad.
does the remote app works?
is the firmware of the iPad and Apple TV update?

if your wifi router support both 2.4Ghz wifi and 5Ghz have you bridge the 2 networks?

To use Airplay from you iPad you simply have to turn it on, Apple explains how in iOS: Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content
