Cant get my old MBP to download Mavericks after a clean install. - used to run it

I used to run Mavericks on my MBP, but bought a new iMac and migrated everything to that.

I then did a clean install of 10.6.8 to it, and tried to download Mavericks onto it, but the download won't work.

Any ideas folks?

All help appreciated.
