blinking orange light

bought an iPod shuffle (4th gen) this morning. it's connected to my mac, and the orange light keeps blinking. it's done synching, so that's not the problem. i see it might also sync "when it is enable for disk use." i don't even know what that means. "enable disc use" is unchecked. so why does this light keep flashing orange? thank you in advance.
