The sound on my Mac won't work.

I went into System Preferences and adjusted the volume, and it's still not working. It seemed to happen after I hit control + c (I'm used to Windows and was trying to copy and paste something) I've tried restarting it and that didn't help either. I've also gone into the Audio MIDI Setup - but I don't really know what I'm looking for in there.

Any suggestions?
