Calendar information deleted

During a previous sync all information, appointments, etc were deleted from my calendar (without my knowledge). Now the only things that show up are facebook invites that i don't want. Is there any way to retrieve the lost data? (Ipod Tounch 5th Generation-- latest ios update)
