Erasing DVD with Superdrive

Could someone please explain how to erase a DVD+RW using a Superdrive? I have Mac version 10.9.3.

Use Disk Utility to erase the DVD. Format it as any other disk.

Thank you very much. I used the Disk Utility before, but the Superdrive didn't show up in the left column. When I tried it again, it appeared. That also happens in finder. I connect the Superdrive to my MacAir and sometimes the icon appears where it's supposed to and other time not.

Anyway, I'm glad I was finally able to do this.
