I keep getting information come up on different sites and Hotmail telling me to update my Safari 5 but my Macbook will not accept Firefox, Opera or Chrome and there does not seem to be an update for Safari 5. What can I do. please? I have a Macbook 13" Aluminium late 2008 Says its OS X 10.5.8 Hope someone out there can help. Thank you for reading. Cate
Thank goodness someone else is in the same boat! I was beginning to think I was the only one.
You need to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 before you can install a Safari version newer than 5.0.6; this is also required for recent versions of other browsers.

You may be able to use TenFourFox. This is basically Firefox adapted for older Macs. It receives updates and security patches, just like Firefox.
