I just got 1tb Seagate Expansion Portable Drive, but the file format is in NTFS so I am unable to write anything as the permissions are limited to Read Only.
Can you help me in converting the file format from NTFS to FAT32 ?
Open Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility) go to the erase tab, set the format to MSDOS (Fat), give the drive a name and press Erase.
All files on the drive will be erased.

Thank you for your help! I have followed the procedure and now able to write (copy) files into my portable disk.
Here comes another problem, whenever I try to copy a file (about 10gigs), it says the "The item “filename” can’t be copied because it is too large for the volume's format"
That's a limitation of FAT32 file systems (4GB is the size limit) Reformat to ExFat
