Almost nothing to go by here, but odds are your HD content will not cut natively in FCP7. Try transcoding your footage to ProRes 422 and see if that doesn't remedy the situation.

What camera were you shooting with? XDCAM requires installing a sony plugin. Some AVCHD formats are not compatible or not completely compatible. For example, fcp7 can not log and transfer some cameras spanned clips (clips that are spread over more than one file). If short clips log and transfer successfully, that's probably the problem. Using Clipwrap2 is the easiest workaround.
Panasonic 160s Thats exactly what happens….short clips transfer…long clips not so well. Also when I assemble short clips into Multi Clip….they don't sync. It's very weird.
so it may be a problem with a later version of avchd so you'll need to use another program to convert to prores. I recommend clipwrap2
