What does it mean when the apple logo suddenly changes to a bright magenta red and then back to grey at start up? I've never seen this happen before but now it happens consistently over the past month. Retina Display 15" MacBook Pro, OS Mavericks.
Try resetting the PRAM. Here are the instructions:

I used to reset the PRAM on my older Macs, never have on the newer ones. This worked. It's fixed. I have not idea what the problem was in the first place but this cleared the problem with the 'red apple.' Thank You Amilixkan
