I can't seem to press the 'delete' button or use the delete key in Image Capture. When selecting the images, it remains greyed-out. There is also a 'lock' image next to all the files. How can I delete these?
I had this problem, too. What worked for me was going into Settings > iCloud > Photos on my iPhone, and turning off iCloud Photo Library.

I don't want to delete all my photos or upload new ones and when I try to shut-off i-cloud I get this warning.
My phone is stuffed with old photos that I can't remove since the horrible new OS. I loved being able to easily use image capture but apple seems to have abandoned their "intuitive" legacy.
When you reenable the sync, the photos should download.
"should" does not make me comfortable. I may try it. Thank You.
