unable to unhide rows

I've used spreadsheet programs (primarily Excel) for years. Just recently started with Numbers. I hid some rows in a spreadsheet but am unable to unhide them. I've tried:

Selecting row above or below hidden rows, choose Table menu, both options to unhide are greyed out.

Selecting a cell in the spreadsheet, choose Table, again both options to unhide are greyed out

Selecting row above or below and clicking drop-down next to row number, no option available to unhide, only to hide that row.

Selected everything (command-a), no unhide options available in any menu.

Removed 'freezing' from column and row headers

I'm guessing it's something basic but it's well 'hidden' at least from me.
