Dear all,
I am going to install a ssd for my mac mini. I use the ssd solely for startup. All documents will be saved in an external drive. If I want to save the cache files also to that external drive. How should I do?

Why on earth would you want to put the system caches on the slowest drive, makes putting OS X on the SSD rather pointless.
I Afraid that the ssd will die if cache folder were put on ssd.
Then don't bother doing this if you are going to separate the OS from its cached components. How can it run fast if constantly polling an external drive for current information?
If you intend on doing this I won't help, others may.
Chip, Modern SSD's will run for many years, the caches will not cause it to wear out/die faster.
My SSD is now 3 years old, I use it like a hard drive and have had zero performance issues.
