hide music controls from screen lock

Before I upgrade my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1.2 I was able to see my screen lock wallpaper and the clock correctly. Now, with iOS 7.1.2 I can't hide or remove the music controls from the lock screen. This is so disturbing because I don't use iTunes nor listen to music, and in stead of showing the iTunes Music controls, I get the SAFARI volume controls. I want to remove completely please Help!!

Sorry to hear you've had no luck. Sadly, and unfortunately, the only other solution I can think of, and is something I truly detest having the need to do (especially when my phone was working just fine), restore your phone as new. When all else has failed. Plus, Apple won't help, unless you've updated to the latest iOS. At least that's what they've told me. Because it's part of their "troubleshooting". Good luck!

Yes, it is a very bad design. But it's what I've learned to expect from Apple since Cook took over. Jobs was an innovator, Cook is a businessman. Two different mindsets that affect the design of Apple products. I'm also very certain that Apple does things to our phones just before a new phone and iOS comes out. Just enough to frustrate people into upgrading to the "latest and greatest". 1. I speak from experience with dealing with Apple Care over the years whenever I have issues with my phone. Which is usually just around the time a new phone comes out with the latest iOS. 2. Admitted by Apple tech guys. All they need is the IMEI to be able to control your phone. They have EVERYONE's IMEI. They just have to "ask" your permission to access your phone. They really don't need your permission to do that. A perfect example, my 6S had 10.2.2. And because I don't update unless I absolutely need to, and auto update is turned off, there should be no reason for that to change. Yet, one day, I happened to check About, and noticed that my phone was now on 10.3.3. So my phone got updated without my knowledge or permission. Keep that in mind.

As for your issue. I found that if you watch a video on Safari, or access YouTube from Safari, but don't stop it, or close the browser window, the iPhone will continue to think you are still using the media player. That's why it shows up on the lock screen. I understand it makes it easier to access. But like you said, poorly designed. Not very intuitive at all. So this issue for me was easily fixed by not watching videos on Safari. I miss the old Apple. Where everything "Just Works".

My handoff is and has been off since it was introduced. It's useless to me... Bluetooth is also always off and is not the culprit. I don't use bluetooth for anything except for the occasional air-drop, when I turn it on and immediately turn it off when done. Bluetooth is a HUGE battery sucking vacuum.

I close all apps on my phone several times per day. Not the problem either.

If apple led you down this road they either didn't understand the problem, weren't listening to you, or were meant to convince you it was your fault by feeding you red herrings. I'd imagine one of the latter of the three.

Thanks for the reply and attempt to help me directly, but I don't use safari on this phone. I have the youtube app and use Chrome for everything browser. That being said, I know there are those rare instances where an app may natively ask safari to run to show me a youtube video. But that hasn't happened in many months. Also, every app on my phone is hard-closed a couple of times per day, yet the issue persists. Thanks

It's still happening to me as well which is what prompted me to google search to see what was going on. I have updated everything so it's still an issue. I don't use or play music from my phone so it is not anything I am doing. I figured it was apples way of trying to get me to use their music service (?). Annoying. And then after a few days of this problem, it mysteriously vanishes only to reappear after about two weeks. Weird. And did I mention annoying?

Answer is:

Problem is "handoff" . Go to settings>general>handoff and shut it off. Presto, issue gone. Another option is to turn off Bluetooth on all devices except one (iPhones, iPads, etc). It is the Bluetooth that is sending signal from any one of several apps (usually Spotify, Pandora, etc that is the villain). Another option is to double click home screen, then drag up apps to "solidly close" them, making sure the villain is closed (such as Spotify). I called Apple, I didn't figure any of this out myself. Note: if you turn handoff off, you will need to restart your device. keep smilin'

Handoff is a feature that works between devices. It doesn't affect the the music controls in Control Center. And BlueTooth does not send signals from apps on the phone to the phone.
