Apple lost in a judgement that accused them of price fixing...so maybe they are now quoting the real price and others are price fixing. The price they charge is the price that has been agreed to with the publisher. As consumers, our options are pay the price or buy elsewhere.

TThis is the first time it has not been the same price or within $1.00 I think it was just missed price and hope they fix it. Other books that I got were ok
SSent to the store the question, should have a answer on we'd.
Note, you posted this thread to the board about Apple's notebook computer, and not the ePub format they have.

Ask the publisher of the book. They are the ones who set the prices in the iBooksstore, not Apple.
Amazon sets the prices in its store, discounting the publishers price as much as it wants.
I just bought an ebook from Amazon that was $12.81 Australian $. The same ebook on iBooks is $30.99 Australian $. I will always give Apple my first choice but not for double the price. Feeling price gouged.

You can avoid gouging yourself by dropping that principle and always buying your books from the store which has the best deal -- In addition to Amazon, you can try Nook, Kobo, Googlebooks, and Sony. They all have free ereader apps available.
