Restore from backup, Time Capsule

Hello Apple Support Communities,

I would like to restore from a backup on my time capsule.

I am running mavericks OS 10.9.3, connected wirelessly to my 1TB time capsule, NETGEAR DM111P modem connected to the world wide web.

My modem has not got wireless capacity.

What I tried to do this morning was disconnect the TC and reconnect it via ethernet cable to my iMac. I turned off my wireless and could not figure out how to connect the TC directly to make the backup process faster.

In the computer, ensure that ipv6 is set to link local for ethernet and wireless.

If the TC will not show up in the airport utility, reset the TC.

Hard or factory reset will delete nothing from the hard disk. It will simply return to defaults and you will be able then to find it.. albeit with one proviso.

Until you finish the setup you need wireless.. once completed you can turn wireless off. And you should do so to force the connection to ethernet only.
