AFAIK there is no way to reset size in the search box. Apple limits what we can set in System Preferences > General > Sidebar size (small, medium, large) This will also change sizes in some applications like Mail.

Hi Diane, Thanks for the reply. I went to a link contained on the same page as your reply ....Kirk Mcelheam's "Stop squinting : make text bigger in OS X " and down at the bottom of his item was a suggestion that the text can be enlarged by going to Display - Resolution - tick 'scaled' and then select a lower resolution i.e. I went from 2560/1440 to 1920/1080 and the result was astounding ! I can still "CTL +/- " to enlarge the page text but the search box text remains the same. Just what I wanted . Thanks to you and Kirk and of course Apple Mac.
