Mac OS 10.3 won't install on my HD

So i recently mistakenly formatted my hard drive to install Mac OS 10.5(I have no idea why i thought that would help) and so to figure out that i couldn't(Due to the fact that it was a gray disc) so I found one of my old Mac OS install disc for 10.3 and tried to install it, until i got to the "Select a Destination" part and saw a red ! on the hard drive in my PowerBook G4. I formatted it for all 4 options (Unix, MS, Mac Journaled, Extended) And none of them seemed to work, i don't necessarily think its my hard drive broken. Is there any way to fix this?

Some Powerbook G4s do not support Mac OS X 10.4.2 or earlier. It would help to know the age of your Powerbook to let you know the limitations:
