Final Cut Pro becomes dysfunctional after 10.1.2 update

Final Cut Pro 10.1.2 freezes entirely. If I open it with all preferences reset (Command+option while clicking on app icon to start program), I can at least see the regular interface, even though it doesn’t contain my previous library. Also, the welcoming window won’t disappear. But if I import footage, I’m unable to select clips and import it into a new project. Nothing works.

Some general FCP X trouble-shooting suggestions.

Use this free app to trash the preferences. This should be the first thing you try when any problems occur.

2. With FCP X shutdown, hold down option key and select Go>Library>Application Support>Final Cut Pro . . . trash the Layouts Folder.

3. Open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.

4. Trash FCP X using this free app and reinstall it.

5. If these 4 measures don't work, create a new User Account (Admin) in System Preferences and try running FCP X from that as it sometimes works miracles.
