Mackie controller issue

Mackie control 1.0.2, logic 9.1.8, Snow leopard. Symptoms : Mackie not following logic. Clock and beats just running away. Stop, play, record, all control logic. Example: If I hit stop on the controller, logic stops, play record etc. But the control just keeps running away. This happened after I changed a track name while playing. I'm sure that I need to trash something and rebuild. I did in fact (in Logic preferences) reset the controller to defaults to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
