macbook battery pack warped

I have an old MacBook (not sure of exact model as was second hand) and I have a problem with the battery.

Since I got it a year ago it needed to be on charge constantly to work or even turn on etc.

I noticed the 'battery pack' (?) on the back was swollen/not fitting properly so tried removing it. It is definitey warped or somehitng as it will now no longer fit back in and I am unable to turn on or use the laptop.

Please can anyone give me a steer on whether this sounds like the problem and if so whether it can be repared? Or do I need to buy a new battery pack? How will I know what type to get and how much do they cost etc? Sorry for all the questions - I am not techy at all!

Thanks in advance!

The replacement user-accessible battery offered at the Store (white MacBook 13") is:

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA561LL/A/rechargeable-battery-13-inch-macbook -white

They cost around $130 USD, and are OK. There are clones or third party ones that are

cheaper or less costly, some have less than a year warranty and avoid them. The Apple

battery replacement is a bit better in most aspects; though a few clones are OK. Another

source for a quality replacement likely would be 'mac-centric' OWC macsales online...

An official Apple Store with Genius bar likely could test or diagnose your computer, and

if you contact them for an appointment, they could check it over while you are there.

Most retail Apple store locations should have a battery in stock. If you talk to the store

about that, ask if they have the user-replaceable battery for your MacBook.

Helps to have your serial number and model number handy when if you call.

Hopefully this helps somewhat.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
