I have over 500 photos in an IPhoto Event, but when I click the Event, it only shows the key photo. This is the only event that seems to have this problem, but of course, it is the one that has the pictures I am trying to work on. Hope someone has the answer! Using OS X 10.9.4 and iPhoto 9.5.1
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

Do you see "xxx more photos hidden" at the top of the browser?
Then enable "View > Hidden Photos" from the View menu in the main menu bar.
No photos "hidden" on this event.
I don't have my external hard drive with me to back up my iPhoto library. Does that make a difference?
Not for this - a simple copy of the iPhoto library on the same erie is fine since you are protecting against a problem with the rebuild - not against a hardware problem
Sorry for dumb question, but what is an "erie"? And how do I back up the library as you are suggesting?
erie is typo for disk or drive. 🙂

I also don't have any discs on hand. (poor planning on my part, I guess, but I am on vacation while working on my photo project) Any other suggestions on getting those photos to show up in the Event??
You can try this:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.
