If my router is capable of a iTunes server, can Apple TV Access it?

I have an Asus RT-AC68U Router that I can hook an external Hard Drive up to via USB 3.0 and use it for an iTunes Server with all of my movies on it. Can My apple TV Access this. If so are there any extra Steps I have to take or a good guide you could link me.
