Upgrade to Lion 10.7

I have an early 2007 iMac6.1, 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM recently fitted with a 500 GB hard drive. I am running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but want to upgrade the OS to be able to use iCloud. This iMac is not compatible with Mountain Lion or Mavericks so Lion is my only option but I cannot find it in the App Store. Any suggestions?

A computer incapable of running Mountain Lion which has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM can run Lion 10.7, which is available by clicking here. Neither Mavericks nor Lion support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004.

Thanks Niel for the link but have a question about the MS Office 2004

I have kept this software in order to keep some important documents that were created between 1992 and 2001 relating to a business I owned. If I save them to a thumb drive how would I be able to retrieve them? Do I need to get my HD partitioned and set one side up with Windows?

1. You need to use Office 2008 or newer, LibreOffice, or similar software to open the documents, or see below. Back up everything first.

2. If desired, use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to create a blank partition on the internal drive and install Lion to that.
