My Itunes won't open?

Whenever I click on my Itunes icon it will pop up, but within a few seconds a pop-up will appear that says 'Itunes has stopped working -- a problem caused Itunes to stop working correctly' and then Itunes will close. Please help me. And please, please answer in detail because I am not as tech savvy as many others are. Thank you so much!
