Sounds like your Apple TV needs to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

In case you are not certain which generation your Apple TV is > Identifying Apple TV models

Try pressing menu button and down arrow key on remote control till light on Apple TV starts flashing rapidly (about 6 seconds), then release both. You should be able to access server when Apple TV comes up with normal menu screen. This worked for me
