How do i adjust the image size the windows open with?

When I open a new page/window in safari, the image is always too large for the page size, and I have to click on the 'zoom out' button, to see the whole page. This didn't used to happen. How do I fix this? /on a 27'' iMac, OS X 10.6.8

Click and drag the very bottom right of any Safari window to resize the page.

You can do the same horizontally as well.
