months ago my 5C was stolen......today i found out itunes store the imei and serial number. So i was wondering could i report it stolen to ATT/apple so the phone could not be used atlease.
if so do i contact att or apple to get the phone disabled?
You don't report it to Apple at all.
You should have let your carrier know when it was stolen, to stop service.
You should also have reported it to the police.
Other than changing your passwords, there was nothing else to do.
AT&T already knows the IMEI. If you didn't report it immediately to AT&T it's probably too late now. And if you had Find my iPhone enabled you could also have disabled the phone without knowing the IMEI. Also likely too late, but you can try by logging in to https://icloud.com/find and setting it to Lost Mode.
i didn't know any of this information until now. I bought the phone off craigslist. been using it with straight talk(its a att phone).
so like do you have to be the original owner??
You've opened up a whole new vista. What does original owner have to do with anything? Assuming the previous owner wiped the phone before you got it you are the current owner. And if they didn't wipe the phone it was probably stolen in the first place.

i mentioned that i'm not the person that bought the iphone from att..... so i don't know how reporting a lost iphone work, I'm thinking when you call ATT they will want a way to know it was actually your phone so they would first ask for proof of purchase??

You had a phone number and you paid a carrier for service for that phone. If your phone was stolen would you not want to let the carrier that you pay for phone service know that you no longer had the phone?

all i'm asking for is how to go about this. I got a lot of "it's too late" responses, is it late because this has been 2 months later so ATT wont bother anymore or what? Because when the phone was stolen i called STRAIGHT TALK to let them know it was stolen and they gave me the "it's nothing we can do" answer.
