FCPX and ITunes

I just migrated my iTunes library to an external HD to recover space in my main internal drive only to find out that when I start FCPX and go to the Audio section FCPX tell me that I have to load I Tunes to populate the section with my music, when I load iTunes separately from the external drive everything loads and all is ok.

I guess FCPX looks at the internal drive first to load the music from ITunes without having to open ITunes first.

My question is: Can this be changed in any way so that I can keep my ITunes Library on the external drive and not having to load ITunes first, every time I open FCPX. I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS BUT I NEED HELP.

I am using FCPX 10.1.2 the latest version of ITunes 11.2.2 on Maveric 10.9.4
