after the recent updates to fcx and motion 5......generators created in motion will not open in Final Cut. Old ones created before update still work find when placed on timeline. When placing the new generators on the timeline the error visual simialr to missing media shows in timeline.
any thoughts? thanks much

Exactly which versions are you talking about? I can't reproduce the problem creating a generator using custos clouds from the Motion library. It sounds like you didn't save it correctly with the media perhaps?
an example..... i publish a generator in motion with no media (just text) . i open fcx and see the generator in the generators browser. when i put it in the timeline it doesnt show....just the exlamation point error message.

The current FCP version is 10.1.2. Try that.
Are thou using the project browser to create the generator? If you do, nothing needs to be published. You simply need to save the file into the correct location, which appears in the save dialog window.
yes project browser. still doesnt work. brings me to another problem. my machine indicates that 10.1.2 is installed. yet when i open fcx it opens 10.1.1. any idea how i can get it to open up the latest version?
MMove the application to the trash. Go to the Purchases pages of the App Store and download the application.
moved to trash.... still says installed already at app store
then emptied trash....... still says already installed. so now no final cut at all. any other thoughts?
if it says installed in the purchases page make sure you have disconnected or unmounted all other volumes and that there are no other copies of the the application.
Same thing happened to me - I think. I found 10.1.2 downloaded & installed in the Docs folder. I didn't put it there.
So do like Tom sez, delete & empty trash then open spotlight, type Final Cut Pro.App, choose "Show All In Finder". IF
it is on your machine, you will see it, move it to Apps.
