Why did an old email address showing when I tried to update as recommended?

I tried to do a recommended update on my MacBookPro for iPhoto and was stopped by a pop up showing my old email address. When I got my MAC I made all my MAC contacts uniform with one email.. WHAT Happened? App's won't let me upgrade.

I have no idea what using one email for your Contacts has to do with this?

Log into the account (your old address) to update all apps that were downloaded via the account.
