Does Mountain Lion perform better for others as well?

I recently downgraded from Mavericks to Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro Mid-2009 and I noticed a HUGE speed increase in my MBP. Am I the only one who experiences that ML runs much better and faster when compared to Mavericks? I only have 2GB of Ram and I know thats not enough to run Mavericks efficiently but Mavericks on my computer was painfully slow and laggy. Yes, I have done a clean install as well. I used to have Snow Leopard, and I can say that ML runs at just the same speed (which is very quick)

Are others feeling the same as well? Or am I having bad luck when it comes to running Mavericks?

Speed issues that appear operating system based usually are either due to compatibility issues, or unfamiliarity with optimizations of the operating system.

It was the 2 GB of RAM which probably slowed the OS down. Most people I have seen post here seem to think 4 GB is minimum. I went from 4 GB to 6GB and noticed an improvement.
