My screen broke, had it repaired. Shortly after, ALL sounds stopped working. No volume, mic, phone, vibrate(?). Had it looked at by different repair person, they replaced a few parts then said it's not fixable, must be motherboard. Will Apple still fix this? Any other suggestions?
Apple Store manager has refused to even touch an iPhone repaired by an unauthorized repair person, when I was at the Genius bar to have my MBP looked at. Unlikely that they will touch it. Apple may sell a replacement, instead.
The history of the device with two unauthorized repairs does not bode well for the device itself.
Actually I do. I cracked my screen on my 4S, had it repaired by a third party. The phone later quit working, took it into the apple retail store in Towson, Maryland they saw that it was not an apple screen on the phone, told them where I had it repaired. They charged me 200.00 and gave me a refurbished phone.

If it was repaired/parts replaced by a 3rd party, Apple will not replace it out of warranty.

Yes they will. You would pay the 269.00 out of warranty fee and get a refurbished one.
If something like the motherboard has been replaced by a third party they will not. If its something like the screen of the phone they will.

They might have given you an exemption. Why? Who knows and that is irrelevant. But that is not Apple's clearly stated policy. Consider yourself lucky.
Will Apple repair a phone that has been repaired by a non-apple shop?
