I just downloaded Mavericks and accidentally deleted the downloads icon from the dock (the one that showed recent downloads in a nifty arch when you clicked on it.) I tried just dragging the downloads folder to the dock, but that wasn't the same. I want to get the original back. Help?
Downloads is not in the left pane of my Finder and my mouse has no right click button. I used to have downloads in the left pane, but that went away when I upgraded to Mavericks.
Open Finder, right click (Option click) Downloads in the left pane of the Finder window, select Add to Dock
In Finder, select Finder Menu>Preferences and make sure Downloads is ticked to appear in the Sidebar tab.

See my post above for regaining Downoads in the left pane. If your mouse has no right-click, control cliick should do the same and reveal a drop down menu to select Add to Dock as Ralph suggested.

Right-Click is the same as Control-Click (holding the Control key, then clicking).
Look in your Home folder for "Downloads".
Drag it to the Dock. Then Right-Click (or Control-Click) on the Downloads folder now in the Dock, and configure how you want the information in Downloads to be displayed.
If you want it in your Finder side-bar, Drag it to the Finder Side-bar from your Home folder.

Click the word Finder on the menu bar (you have to click the main desktop window so the menu bar says Finder) then click Sidebar, and under Show these items in sidebar: under Favorites see that Downloads is checked. Then control-click with the mouse on Downloads, and at the bottom of the dialog that opens, click Add to Dock.
As I said in my original post. I tried dragging the downloads folder to the dock, but that isn't the same as the original that displayed everything in an arch-like menu. I don't see a Finder Menu in finder.

Ok. I have downloads on my side pane of Finder now, but when I ctrl click on it and select add to dock, it just puts a stacked icon there.. and it's not the same and functions differently. I'm trying to put the one that came with the original Mavericks back. I appreciate the help, though.
If you've now managed to get an icon for Downloads in the Dock - albeit different in appearance to how it was before - Control+click on it and it will show a menu with options that you can change to get it to display how you would like it.
AH HA! There's a FAN option on the icon that I didn't notice. I appreciate all the help and I'm sorry for being so thick-headed! Thank you everyone!

Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu and drag it back from there, then right click on Downloads added to Dock change VIEW CONTENT AS to FAN.
