Pictures showing in Camera Roll but not visible after restore

My 5 dies yesterday so I bought a 5S to replace it. I restored from my most recent backup - thankfully the night before it died, but I had to leave WiFi mid restore and not all the pics came back. There are places for the pictures and the pictures have locations and dates in the app, but the pictures aren't there. This happened once before with another phone, and I remember I deleted something and it rebuilt the database or something and they appeared, but I don't remember what and I can't find it.
