How do I change the iMessage account on my Mac?

I cannot delete it. Notice below that the "-" button is greyed out. Also, when I select it, there are no options in the pane on the right hand side.

The one thing that's weird about this is that this account used to be a non-email account. I have tried to convert everything to use an e-mail username as I was getting confused. Anyway, this is driving me crazy because I can't delete the account, I can't sign out of it. Very frustrated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Somehow magically it showed up today with information in the gray area. I was able to log out and log back in with the correct credentials. the weird thing is that the messages never updated - the ones that are on there are from like 6 months ago. I didn't see any refresh options. Does it just refresh in the background or is there some way to force a refresh??
