I am looking for a simple app that runs on my Mac that allows me to create playlists of music, podcasts, and videos how I choose and have these playlist transfer to to my iPad and play.
In other words iTunes 10 for the iPad!!
If you already know about iTunes, it seems as if you've answered your own question: download iTunes.

Not surprisingly, those apps are called Music, Videos, and Podcasts. Except for Podcasts, they both came on your phone and cannot be deleted. Podcasts can be downloaded from the App Store.
Actually alfred you are quite mistaken. These three apps from apple do not come close to what iTunes can do, or even the Music app on IOS 6.

Well, since you asked so nicely for us to confound the issue... Have you searched the App Store? Google? Appadvice.com?
So maybe you can be more clear in exactly what it is you want, rather than a generic statement like "iTunes for the iPad". Two experienced people have now tried to help you and you have rebuffed us both. If you want help, be clear and specific in what you are asking for.

If you every used iTunes, esp 10, but also 11, you can very easily create playlists " with a mix of music, podcasts, and videos." With those IOS 7 apps you recommend you cannot. If you try to do it with iTunes the playists do not make ot intact to iPad. I'm sorry you do not know that.
