iMessage on computer only sends/receives messages from email, not phone number

On my iPhone 5, I send iMessages only from my phone number (I have removed my email from the "you can be reached by iMessage at" section under iMessage settings). On my MacBook Pro (iOS X 10.9.3), however, the iMessages I send are from my email only. I cannot find a way to send them from my phone number. I also receive none of the iMessage sent to my phone number on my computer.

Hi,

So let me get this straight:-

On the iPhone you removed the Apple ID ?

Or do you mean you just deselected it as an Option for Send and Receive ?

On the Mac the number will still show but the sync will not longer work if you have done the first suggestion.

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.

Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:

Messages Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out

and on the iPhone:

Settings Messages Send & Receive Apple ID ▹ Sign out

Then, on the phone, tap

Use Your Apple ID for iMessage

Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.
