4s Memory and overall functioning

Hello

I am due to update with IOS 7.1.2 but cannot due to lack of space. I cannot cancel or delete any files as they cannot be accessed. Screen freezes. No apps cant be manipulated. I cant access photos, facebook, notes, nor the web browser. I can access other Apps such as banking, weather, etc. Can i back up my whole icloud (all iphone content) to Itunes? Seems like i need to hit "restore" here. Not sure what to do. Very frustrated. Paralyzed. Cant take action to remedy. Thanks!

Launch iTunes on your computer. Go to Preferences. Devices tab. Check the box to not sync automatically.

Connect the phone to your computer. Click on its name in iTunes. Click Backup.

While still connected import the photos from your Camera Roll using your favorite photo management app.

When all of that is done click Check for Updates.
