My iphone 4s doesn't record sound. Any ideas why?

I took a lots of videos with my new phone the other day at the school concert, when I played back there is no sound at all..... Very disappointed! Any ideas why this is?

ARe your fingers blocking the mic? Are you clear on the mic locations?
