why can't i connect to wifi?

since i have installed this os x mavericks my mac can't connect to wifi...i mean it just starts to connect but then ends with a ! sign on wifi sign...i'm confused it's just the wifi it used to connect before installation but it only verifies it not the connection.can anybody help?thanks
