I LOST MY IPHONE 5S, still trackable and has an ORANGE LOCK SYMBOL.

Hi people, NEED URGENT HELP!

Firstly, I have to say this information : I live in Indonesia and I cannot count on Indonesian police here. However, here, in MOST CASES you can solve everything with money.

Two days ago I lost my Iphone 5s at a KTV place at 1 am, i know i was so stupid. It was on low-batt when I left it.

I think one of the waiter/waitress took it and brought it home and they would sell it to second-hand shop. Of course, I checked back and nobody would give me back my Iphone.

I put the FIND MY IPHONE on and Activation Lock ( the orange lock symbol ). I searched it on ICLOUD.COM/#FIND and it was online. I called it and whoever found it did not pick it up and I thought I should put it in lost mode and play sound. Not far from the KTV, at a huge market and I got emails. Sound was played several times on my phone and it went offline.

I almost lost hope, but the phone still have an orange lock sign and I had a passcode, finger print lock, and of course nobody knows my Apple ID.

At 9 am the next day, it was trackable again and I played two sounds (the sound from Find My Iphone) and I can see the phone is in 10 % battery. It went offline, i guess he/she was shocked because of the sound. At 5 pm I got email again, it was moved to a place also not far from there.

My parents went to the police station near the MARKET area (the market is huge, but mostly food and clothes. Very few electronic shop) and asked the head of police if they could help me find it and bought it back even ( because they'd rather throw it away than telling the truth). The police said he would help and asked several shops that sell second handphone the next day (which is today) because when my parents arrived, all the shops are already closed.

I am still tracking this Iphone because I think anybody could not sell a phone without a charger, without the passcode, and without my Apple ID. And the most relieving thing is the LOCK symbol in the Iphone. I think the lock symbol means that the person still can't jailbreak it and they can't sell it.

I know they can move it when it was offline, but i will still track them when they "SOMETIME LATER" put it online again.

What do you think? Does the LOCK symbol in my Iphone means that whoever he/she was can't use or access the phone or jailbreak it? Is there any chance that I can find this Iphone? And also, my Iphone's serial number has been registered in Apple Support. And it was still under MY NAME the last time it went offline.

I want to remove all my data, but also still want to find this Iphone 5s ( because it is still locked and under my name ) using the head police help ( which has been promised reward for finding it, because that's just how Indonesia works -_- ) until tonight, if it ever does appear online again. I just got it two weeks ago and that night I was clumsy (world cup + KTV + beers) and I desperately want to get it back if i could.

Everyone who has this problem should know that Icloud.com is very useful because :

1. I literally can access all my contacts, reminders, and so on from the ICLOUD.com

2. They notify you when your phone is found to your email (Apple ID) with the address.

3. I can put a customized message to whoever found it and put a number to call for whoever found it (Lost Mode)

The only thing that bothers me :

The address sent to my email was not precise, only show the area, not the literal place.

The map satellite needs to be updated (from 2013 still) and can't be zoomed in to much.

-But, it still helps me to find it and narrow the area of search.

I only HOPE that this person has a heart to give it back. Thank you gail from maine 🙂

If your device has Find My iPhone enabled (which is apparently does have), then it will be useless to anyone who tries to use it. It cannot be jailbroken, restored, or reused in any way because it having Find My iPhone turned on triggers the Activation Lock when anyone attempts to restore the device:

ACTIVATION LOCK

As long as you have changed your Apple ID password to protect yourself, and you have put your device into Lost Mode, you have done everything you can do short of wiping the device remotely. Doing that will remove all of your personal information from the device, but it will also prevent you from continuing to track it. If you do decide to wipe it, the Activation Lock will still be enabled, preventing anyone from ever being able to use it.

Sorry about your troubles,

GB

You are welcome steffirahardjoiphone.

FYI - the little orange Lock symbol indicates that you have enabled Lost Mode on the device.

And remember, if you do decide to Erase the iPhone, you will no longer be able to track it. However, the Activation Lock will still be on the device, and it will not be able to be used by anyone since they do not know your iCloud sign in or password.

Best of luck,

GB
