audio balance

hi, i have been continuously finding the balance on my speakers shifting towards the right on its own every few days, rather than staying in the middle. I have not been touching the balance controls at all. does anyone know why this is happening? and is there any way i can lock the balance so that it doesn't do this? thanks for any insight you might have.
