Calendar Paste events question

I am in month view. I have to copy and paste multiple events over the coming 12 months, starting with some things in September ... but I cannot work out how to do such a simple thing!

1. How do I copy an event including it's repetition data?

2. How do I paste an event into a specific date? The context menu seems to paste into a random location ... I have not worked out how, in month view, I can click on a date so that it becomes the target for a paste operation.

3. If there are no actual solutions (to copy & paste!) then is there any 3rd party app that will allow modification of the calendar data? I still want to use calendar to share/view etc. ... it just seems to be so focussed on lots of individual meetings made in the near future.
