how do i export a pages file with diagrams properly to .doc format

I have a pages file which is a mixture of text, text boxes and shapes, including lines - basically organigrams and explanatory text. My client needs it in Word format. If I save as a .doc file or Export to Word my client finds the .doc file piles up all text boxes and shapes on the first page. I can see the problem via Finder

I have tried third party converters across the web / via download. One can cope with the idea of pages but the text boxes and shapes still end up in vastly different parts of the document from the text they belong with!

Apple support have no real idea - they agree the conversion doesn't handle the shapes etc, think it might be something to do with templates but didn't know what I should try.

Has anyone:

- had and solved this problem

- any thoughts what template / document properties might be responsible
