It won't even SEE my iPhone.
I've restarted BOTH the iPhone and my PC

I'm having the same issue, it wont show up at all, I tried several usb ports but nothing. My iPad does however work without any problems.

I Seem to be having the same problem I could sync my phone up to iTunes a few days ago but since updating the iTunes software my device no longer shows up with its name that I assigned it only wit apple iPhone then pops up with trust this computer I click yes then windows just disconnects and reconnects my phone without showing anything in iTunes. I have tried the device in a different PC but it doesn't even get recognised by windows nor does the option to trust pop up.

I find "Trust this computer" to be completely annoying. It doesn't save or remember the computers I trust, for the most part I'm only using one computer for synchronizing my stuff and it gets really annoying to see that message popping every time I plug my devices in.

Im having the exact same thing with my nano. UGH fix it APPLE.

I found a solution

I uninstalled the latest version and downloaded an older version but the problem kept on going.

I followed the steps from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

I went into If only Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod appears

and followed the steps and its working now.
